Queen of Innovation
Made for the 2017 Jacopo da Trezzo competition: “A jewel for Maria Theresa of Austria”.
In making this piece we were inspired by the great changes and innovations that the empress brought, trying in our own way to encapsulate them in a jewel that is aesthetically simple yet at the same time regal.

The innovation can be found in the role reversal, with the magnetic clasp hidden but placed right in the foreground at the front of the necklace, making it easy to put on, while the back, usually relegated to the background, becomes a fundamental part of the piece; the whole unit is linked by 2 simple, sandblasted linear wires.
To represent the 300th anniversary of her birth, we chose 3 large Blue Topaz gems, the colour that often appears in portraits of the empress, with a background of white and lavender drops and navettes that emphasize and add light to the central drops.
